Ramble On - Christmas at Ground Zero

Lets the record straight, I much I love Christmas, mainly because I love to be with my family, I think they are the best in the world (yeah thats really biased), I don't mind the gifts, and the lights, and the noise noise noise, and surprisingly I don't mind the religious meaning (I'm an Atheist, I'll talk about it some other time) but the thing is...I hate Christmas music!!

I personally cannot stomach this crap, yes its traditional, yes it makes people get in the spirit, but I hear it so many times that I am so sick of hearing it, but out of all of the Christmas music, the one I will never get tired of hearing no matter what, and in a strange way, it always gets me in the spirit of Christmas...Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you...Christmas at Ground Zero

An original song by the great Weird Al Yankovic, defiantly one of my personal favorites, I would say that this tops most of his music HE written, I will admit it, his parodies trumps over his original songs, hell even his polkas are better, don't get me wrong, I do like most of his originals, its just many of them are hits and misses. If I have to pick 3 songs, I would pick (in no order) Dare to be Stupid, One More Minute, and Albuquerque. Anyway, I am just rambling on here. The reason why I like this song is because for some reason I really do like his dark sense of humor, many people do not know that Weird Al does have a real good scenes of humor, not all of his jokes are just for kids but it has a little something for Adults, thus explain that there are fans that are at least 16 or older. I mean, when I saw this video from College Humor, I thought that sketch was a genius idea

Anyway, I adore this song and its been playing on my iPod especially around this time of year, there is something about thtat just catches my ear, especially after 9/11 the meaning of the word "Ground Zero"has since changed, and I like looking at all the dumbasses thinking the song is about 9/11, but the song is actually about the cold war, hell even the video basically used old educational and news reel films that where used around the Cold War era, even former president Ronald Reagan made an appearance. While I'm at it why do people think the song "911 Was A Joke" is a song about 9/11? the song is about Police...and not a positive look at it. I don't know, I generally like to play with people and there stupidity, makes me happy I live in the Post 9/11 era.

Leaving on a positive note, I like this song, it is my all time favorite Christmas song, I wish you all a Happy Holidays!!! and I am sorry for a crappy entry :3

Rant - Pearl Jam's Jeremy video

Heres a little something I want to get this off my chest, first of all, I am not a big Pearl Jam fan, but I do like the song Jeremy, I do remember seeing the video back when it came out, it was an awesome video, many people talk about the video more than the actual song itself, but did you guys know there was an uncensored version?

Yes, there was an uncensored version of the video, its a video that was rarely seen because MTV are too much pussies to view anything that would potentially get sued for. In the original version of the video we would see all the students stand up in the class, as the camera pans from left to the right, we would see the students doing a nazi salute with the American flag turned upside-down, Thats one thing, the other one is the most infamous, the video was suppose to end with the titled character walk in the class room, throws the apple to the teacher (where we hardly see at all) he stands in front of the class, then he pulls his gun out and put it in his mouth and ends up killing himself, in the "censored" version the video was "post-producedly" edited the video of closing up on Jeremy's head, obscuring the gun. In the censored version many believe that Jeremy killed all his fellow students in the class, but they are all wrong.

Now, many are asking "why are you posting this?", well, I have a problem with all the idiots on YouTube. Every video I have seen claimed that they have the uncut version of the video but in reality it s a fucking lie! I know it, everyone who searches the video knows it, I really want to know why they faulty claimed its the uncut version? was it there plot to get more views? or are they just plain stupid. Its obvious that they did not bother looking at the video itself, they just lurk around the internet, they found a video claiming its the uncensored version, downloaded it off of Limewire or whatever crap P2P servers they use nowadays, never bother watching it or thought it is the legit version and upload it on YouTube. Just blows my mind how stupid people can be. Here is the sad part, ITS EVERYWHERE!!! 1 out of 30 chances you would actually found the actual version of the video, at least these assholes did there homework and knew it was the actual video, here is the problem, most of the time the video got deleted because of those fat cat record executives need more money so they take down the video claiming that its copy-write infringing. For gods sake people, let the world see the offensive video, the world is curious, and we all want to see the original artist attend for the audience to see.

Anyway, just throwing it out there, its just something that just grinds my gears, so for your amusement, here is the uncut version (its real, trust me).

Top 5 - Guilty Pleasures

I was watching Nostalgia Critic's review on Moulin Rouge, basically, he hated the movie with a passion but during the review they brought in 2 guest reviewers trying to defend the movie saying that its a good, fun movie and all, until about halfway into the review, they where starting to turn against the film, but its not until the end that they still like the movie, then they break into song about that they like the movie because its a guilty pleasure. Encase you guys don't know, guilty pleasure is something one enjoys and considers pleasurable despite feeling guilt for enjoying it. The "guilt" involved is sometimes simply fear of others discovering one's lowbrow or otherwise embarrassing tastes. Fashion, video games, music, movies, and junk food can be examples of guilty pleasures.

Anyway, the video inspired me to create this list, this list pretty much speaks for itself, it is based on my personal opinion, whether you guys like it or not, besides, I need to post something new, since I nearly posted nothing for like a month...Sorry. So without further ado, lets start the list.

5. The Wizard

Of all the bad movies that I watched over the years, there is always something uncomfortable about admitting of liking the movie, I know for the fact that its a really bad movie. I know many video game fans tore this movie apart, saying the movie is really a really big commercial for Nintendo, they are right, and pretty much most of the time the facts of the movie is generally wrong, like how you could get 50k points on Double Dragon in less than 2 minutes, most of the wrong facts are ok, but the one part that always get me everytime is this part, it just does not make sense!!! Honestly, what the fuck was he talking about!?

Yeah I know my nerd rage is showing but the thing is, its fun to pick this movie apart, especially with friends, and I love the peoples reaction to the old man in the speedo (btw, sorry for the image). For a movie, it is a bad movie, but as a party "Camp/Cult/So Bad That is Good" movie night, I recommend watching this one, you won't be disappointed.

4. Pokemon

I will admit to everyone, it was a trend, a phase that I went through, I am pretty sure everyone around my age where playing Pokemon games on the Gameboy, I remember when everyone was collecting Pokemon cards (I have a few myself), and there was the Anime...my god that show was absolute crap and that ruined Pokemon for everyone, when everyone thinks of Pokemon, they think of the crap show. To me,  I'm a fan of the games than the show, now the reason why is this on my list is because when I admit something like this to the public, they are going to go all low brow and think of the show than the games, people need to admit the games are fun. I generally enjoy it. For the record, I only played Pokemon up to Pokemon Yellow, I never went beyond that, so I only know the first 151 Pokemons. I am glad I am friends of people that openly admits that they like Pokemon.

To sum it all up, I like the games, the show can kiss my ass!

3. Wrestling Video Games

I love video games, and I love wrestling games. I will admit that I like video games and like wrestling to the public. But for some reason when I go out to buy a new wrestling game, I feel embarrassed! I guess I know for the fact that wrestling is fake, and many people look at it as kids stuff...I guess, and the thing is, most the games are meh (the last good WWE/F game was WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain), I hear everyone asking "Y U PLEH RESTLIN GAYM!?"....I love the CAW feature...now for those who are not in the know, CAW stands for "Create-A-Wrestler", it kind of speaks for itself, its a feature that YOU can create your own wrestler, it was a addiction since WWF Warzone came out, my brother and I would create our own wrestlers and we would fight each other, it was a good time fun.

Sad thing is, many wrestling games did not age that well, Warzone is crap by today's standards...so what do I do? BUY MORE WRESTING GAMES!!!! because they always update the CAW feature and right now its so advance that you could make your own Ring in the new WWE 12', and as a fool, I am going to buy it, even knowing the fact that the game is just meh.

2. Nu-Metal

Once upon a time back in Middle School, I was an angry strapping young lad, I was rebelling against my parents, my teachers, and my friends...I wish I was :p it wasn't until High School when that stuff happens. Anyway, back in Middle school, I listened to allot of bands like Limp Bizkit, Creed, Korn, Staind, I thought I was cool because I thought the music was cool and I looked down on everyone, I was just cool in my own mind. I thought listening to this was the coolest thing in the world, until I get a load of this.

They seriously changed my ways and I became a true metal head, and I threw away all those crap CDs that I have and listen to stuff like Sepultura, Slayer, Megadeth, it was like a divine intervention. I completly closed out of the whole Nu-Metal shit, and realize there was a difference between good shit and the shit that MTV spoon-fed me, MTV and I where no longer friends back then and I have not let them back into my life...thank goodness! Beyond the end of High School (roughly my early 20s) I decided to look upon my years and realize how much I changed over the years, I look at the music and I realized that there was an evolution in my taste of music, and I decided to take a listen to my old Nu-Metal music, it kind of rekindle my interest and I looked up and see where most the bands are at nowadays, and being shocked that some of my favorites broke up. So yeah, I do like Nu-Metal music for what it is, I know its bad music but I think its fun to listen to. Just don't expect me to admit it in front of hardcore metalhead at a Manowar concert.

and now... NUMBER 1# Drum Roll please

1. Cyndi Lauper

Ok, here is something that is need to be said, I...think Cyndi Lauper is hot!!! You can have your Katy Perry, you can have your Natalie Portmen, or whatevers on Maxim's Top 100 list. I think Cyndi Lauper is the hottest girl in the world, even nowadays she actually looks good. Plus, I personally love her personality, I love her fashion, I am generally in love with her, I know I could never have her, but if I ever meet her in-person, I would just for shits and giggles, ask her in a hand of marriage. Now, I hear you asking "do you like her music" yes...yes I do, I love "She Bop", "Time After Time", and yes..."Girls Just Want to Have Fun".

But the cream of the crop is "Goonies R Good Enough", because The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies and that song was get me out of the blues, it was my call back from reality, it makes me remember that I should never give up and never say die. I am also a fan of the music video, I think the video was epic especially the cameo of WWF wrestlers like Andre The Giant, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Iron Sheik...it just tickles the wrestling fan in me.

So this concludes my list!! I hope you enjoy my list, if you guys like it, I will make more!!

Music: The Vines - Highly Evolved

Do any you guys remember the Garage Rock Revival? Over 10 years ago there was this craze that was sweeping the United States, even Rolling Stones claim that "Rock is Back" (The Vines where on the cover!), as I recall there was 4 bands that where part of this so-called revival, the bands are...The Hives, The White Stripes, The Strokes, and The Vines. All four bands where successful, many had better and successful careers in a long run, in my opinion I think White Stripes are the best of the four, Strokes and Hives had there own success and they got there own faithful fanbase, the worst of the four is sadly the one I lost a bet on...The Vines. Seems like The Vines where pretty much one hit wonders with there song "Get Free", they have other singles but they are not as successful as "Get Free". I decided to take a listen to there debut album to see if its any good, I know the album even around that time, they got average reviews, as I listen to it, I got more than I bargain for.

Starting out the album the titled track "Highly Evolved" it started out like I just jumped into a random conversation, it was a pretty rockin' track, pretty good way to start the album, I was looking forward to hear the next song. With the song "Autumn Shade" just like that... the album took a completely different turn, and completely different pace, we got to a rock song to a bland ballet, don't get me wrong, I do like ballets, but in order to make a good ballet, it should not suck! there is nothing memorable with that song, after that song was over we go back to the rocking with the track "Outtathaway" the bands second single, it was an ok song, its not that memorable of a song, it kind of got that Jimi Hendrix mix with Iggy Pop and Nirvana, which is not bad of a combination. After that song was over, the album dragged its feet again with a Beatles inspired ballot, I got not much to say about it, but its just really boring to listen to, I can't believe I actually compare it to The Beatles, and we got another boring ballot with "Homesick", and finally after two boring songs we finally got the real true highlight of the whole entire album..."Get Free"! Without a doubt "Get Free" is an awesome song, but I do get the feeling that song was actually under pressure from the record label to make a hit single, and thats what they did, a less then 2 minutes of awesomeness, but it is a great song none the less. After that...what do we get? More boring ballads!! Seriously you guys, they made really bad ballads, than about 8 songs in, I was starting to get bored and I started to yawn, and I was losing faith with this album. I even notice a pattern, it looks like this "Rock/Ballad/Rock/Ballad/Ballad/Rock...repeat". Pretty much the whole album has pretty much reaches its downfall after 6 songs, and it certainly did not recover, even there closer song left us wanting something better, hoping there is a better song afterwards, but it basically said "fuck this, this really sucks".

Overall, I may sound like I am bashing the album, but if I have to say something positive about the album, the production is good, it sounds clean and I can hear everything, There is basically 3 good songs, but only one of the three I can listen to over and over again, and sadly these 3 songs and the good productions is the only thing that its saving itself from getting a bad score. The album is just generally plagued with boring, and unmemorable songs, it really made me wonder they never made it beyond one hit wonder status.

Movies: Monty Python's Life of Brian

Monty Python...good old Monty Python, I have been quiet a long time fan of Monty Python, but how I got introduced to is an interesting story, I never watched the show, I have not watched Holy Grail until afterwards. But what introduced me to Monty Python is actually a PC game called "Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time", it mostly made up on mini games and clips, but I enjoyed it, plus it introduced me to Terry Gilliams unique art style, I enjoyed it, I played it to death, and I love love the jokes, then my Uncle introduced me to Monty Python's Holy Grail and that became one of my all time favorite movies, and the rest is history.

Now, I have found myself a copy of this movie at a used bin, other than it cost like $10, it was the Criterion Collection version, for me, I am little bit of a collector of Criterion films, so without any doubt, I decided to buy it.

Since its an early DVD there are non of those BS unskipable previews so bonus points for that! The quality of the film they where using is quiet grainy but I find it rather charming since everything has to be clean these days.

Now you guys are thinking, is the movie any good? well, I like the movie, I have always like Monty Python's humor, although they basically just come up with something and hoping it would be funny and luckily most of the jokes are funny and well executed, but there is only one joke I don't like but I am just nitpicking, I don't like the "Dickus Biggus" joke, I just think the joke kind of gone on way too long. If you are expecting Oscar award worthy performance, just don't expect too much, its a bloody comedy! I mean its not like its bad, they are top notch performance, everybody has done there job, they all knew there shtick and they do it well. My favorite scene is when the whole movie completely derailed itself into a Si-Fi battle scene, if you seen the movie for the first time, you can't even see it coming, but at least ended and it was never mentioned again and it just go back to the chase scene, I thought it was complete genius.

Overall, I thought it was a great film, defiantly a good deal on getting it for $10. For the record, I have herd the movie has some controversy because of the theme of the movie, I mean yeah its a pie to the face to religion but for me I am not a religious person, but I thought the movie pretty spoke to me that how much people are easily manipulated by the little things of life, Brian is just an everyday person that is pretty much caught up in a knot and all he wants is just to be left alone, I considered it an everyday man story who is just caught up with unwanted glory, I am pretty sure we are all like that, I certainly don't want it myself. But we all got to look on the bright side of life.
