Music: The Cranberries - No Need to Argue

I remember the time when I first herd The Cranberries back in the 90s, it was through an old PC game/EP titled Doors and Windows I did not care for the band I generally care about the interactivity part of the CD, because in my 5 year old mind everything that I could click is a game to me, win or loose, its all game to me, but I do remember watching one of the clips in the game that includes a video clip when they played on Woodstock 94 and the song from that clip was Zombie, I can't remember I liked the song or not, fast forward a tad, when I used to listen to the radio to fall asleep to, I remember hearing that song again and I ended up liking the song along with the song Dreams, Ode to My Family and so on.

I have picked this CD up at my local Goodwill and I think to myself, oh hey, lets give this one a spin, right away they kicked off this album with Ode to My Family one of there pretty well known song, it is not really my favorite but I 'll take it or leave it none the less. The next two songs I will have to say they are pretty ok songs, its nothing memorable but it is something nice to cruise along to, then we get to Zombie, arguably there most well known song, I will say this song definitely got the alternative edge with the chugging of the heavy guitar, I would say the main reason why they got some attention from the alternative crowd...or just generally for the American audience with there obsession with anything with loud guitars (hey, it was the 90s, it means ether you get a guitar or get the fuck out).

Now this is where the album starts falling apart, I mean its not terrible by any means, they are good at there own right, its just there not that memorable, its not something you would blast to while your driving on the highway, they are good, but seems like its something you would chill to, bring in some weed and maybe bring a buddy and just relax. I guess the only problem I have and its just my opinion and I may sound like an idiot, but my point is, that its not a car album...you know what I mean?

Overall, its not good, its not bad, its just...in the middle, its an average album at best, maybe its not my kind of music, but hey I least I tried, and I gave my honest opinion, does that make us all winners?

Music: Sisqo - Unleash The Dragon

Sisqo (aka Mark Andrews) is a singer of the R&B group "Dru Hill", they where well known for the hit singles "In My Bed", "Never Make A Promise" to name a few. Along the line of there career Woody left to pursue his solo career, and thus inspired other members of the group to do there own themselves, I am sure the most infamous member to make a solo is album is Sisqo, I remember watching TRL back in the day and have this little guy running around announcing his new video on this album, titled "Thong Song", I remember that video so much, all bunch of hot chicks in there bikini's at a beach, and have Sisqo drive into the beach an start dancing around getting the party started, but the scene will always stick out to me is the black light scene, thats where dreams are made of...

Then again, the video is just plain ridiculous. I will admit it, the song is catchy, its a song that get the girls dancing, I find the lyrics are ridiculous by todays standards, its laughable, and also some outdated references (Does anyone in US say "Livin' La Vida Loca" anymore?). Don't expect to ever to hear this song at a club or a strip club any time soon, it just did not age too well and its pretty much just a novelty of a song.

So yeah, many are now thinking, hows the album? Well, if you take away the sole hit song, its just a awful album, every song sounds exactly the same, the subject matter is all the same, its just music about making love, girls, all that jazz...or something a little bit about more specific...its songs about fucking, thats all it is, its just songs about fucking. Don't get me wrong, I like romantic, love making music, but here is the difference, you can have the greatest production of all time, you can have songs about making love, but you have to make the song...good. If the music just for the sake of love making, then your album will not do too well outside the bedroom.

The biggest problem with this album is cliched, rest assure you will bring out the check list of RnB/Soul Cliches and it will clear out everything to a tee. Many songs are all the same, it will not let up the pace at all until 8 tracks in (guess what the song is). Its also a boring album, I've been driving around at least 5 towns (I live in Connecticut, there are so many small towns) trying to run some errands, but this crap just sucks the life out of me, I wanted listen to something new but I can't for the sake of reviewing, I pretty much have to suffer through this one. I remember when the last track on the album came on, it bursted out with energy, I was like "woah holy shit what happened!?" but sadly, its just a remix track and it came in too late. Overall, if you see this album in the used bin...avoid it, its awful...not worth the 3 bucks, do the world a favor, don't listen to it.

Music: Limp Bizkit - Significant Other

First, lets get this out of the way, Fred Durst is the worst rapper ever. Honestly, he is just the worst, he has the worst flow, worst rhyming ability, and just bad choice of words, if any people think they can rap, they are idiots like Fred Durst.

Now we got that out of the way, let me tell you a little history of my life, back in Middle school I was an angry young lad, I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the good ole stuff that my dad influenced me, then one day I have the desire to listen to something...heavy, and loud, and thus I discover bands like Korn, Kid Rock, and of course...Limp Bizkit. I did not know any better since I am just a teenager and this was something that just happened to played on MTV around the time, I do remember watching the video for "Nookie" and being attracted to Wes Borland, it was his contacts he was wearing, when I first saw that I was like "dude, whats up with your eyes?" I never knew contacts existed until my friends pointed out, of course months later I bought the CD and liking every minute of it because it was loud and heavy, it was what I called around that time "Heavy Metal", years go by and I was getting old, realize there is better stuff out there if you actually look, so I destroyed my Limp Bizkit CDs when I realize that it was crap and I was hypnotized by this lie, but in the way in defined me for who I am today, I hated it but at the same time I admired it.

10 years later, I am all grown up and I found my way, and expanded my knowledge of music, and lets just say I officially found my center, and I have expanded my mind. One day, I decided to take a look back at my music that I used to listen to back in Elementary School, Middle, and High school because I felt like I was in a runt, I was tired of listening to same metal music that I have been hearing for years, so I took a look back and see what influenced me throughout the years and see how it aged, so good, some bad, some because all time favorites, some I despised all together...and Limp Bizkit's "Significant Other" is one of them.

I have picked up my copy at a Goodwill for $3 since I have destroyed my original copy (damn that teen angst of mine), I was with my friend at the store, I pulled out the CD case, exam it...make sure the CD wasn't stolen...it wasn't. My friend looked at me and told me that I have lost my mind for buying a Limp Bizkit CD, I told him that I am just revisiting the past, he was all like "whatever dude". As I popped in the CD into my Sony Walkman connected to a cassette adaptor in which is connected to my car stereo system and start listening, the intro was playing with its spacey backbeat and it includes what I assume is Fred with a downtuned voice announcing that I wanted "the worst" and I got it...I would of taken that as a warning, but I listened on to the albums opening track "Just Like This" which to be honest its not a bad song to open up to, it gets you pumped, gets you excited, and encourage you with not so great lyrics, but I do like the song non the less.

We move on to next song which is debatably there biggest song, "Nookie". I will admit it, it is a guilty pleasure of song, it is also a very cocky kind of song, basically the song is just saying "oh, I am just in it to get laid...byeeeeeeee", oh and the chorus is repetitive, but at the end, I actually kind of like it, maybe its the nostalgia goggles. Pretty much the next 2 songs are the string of hits "Break Stuff" and "Re-Arranged", "Break Stuff" is pretty much the angry teen anthem, encourage to use violence when someone treats you like trash...Eric and Dylan would of been proud, legend has it that this song was the reason why there where violence at Woodstock 99, so I guess Fred ruined Woodstock, what an asshole. "Re-Arranged" as far as I know sounds like some kind of break up song, baseline being played over and over again and with a little scratching from good ole DJ Lethal (little late on the party don't you think?), but you know what's really crazy? this is actually my favorite song on this whole album, I don't know why, I tend to listen to this song over and over then most the songs on the album.

After a string of hits, something crashed landed and I don't know what it is, pretty much the whole album hit awol with the song "I'm Broke", the song is basically what I am hearing is Fred bitching for the fact for people begging for money and for some reason that he does not have any money, to me what really stand out is the opening lyrics, this is the true mark of a genius

"I aint no joke/So you should get yourself a pen/And write yourself a little note so you don't forget again/When it comes to cash/I've been gettin' smoked/Lendin' out my money now im broke/Somebody's gettin' choked/Cuz now its time to pay the piper/Bums are the type of shit that are in a diaper/Don't make me have to call a sniper..."

that is by far the worst lyrics I have ever herd of my life!! By this time the goggles has been taken off.

As I face the reality of it all, I have swam through some of the worst songs I have ever whiteness, and so many of the songs are just not that memorable other than hearing Jon Davis saying "fuck me" which I pretty much laughed out loud because it just sounded so dumb. Then we reached to what it is a straight up hip hop song "N 2 Gether Now" which I will honestly say the production did sounded good because of DJ Premier (of Gang Star), once again it's plagued with Fred Durst ability to rap, luckily it did not last long when Method Man, which he is in many ways, the better rapper, its not his best rapping he done, but its better none the less. I do have to admit, Fred Durst maybe the worst but he does has good taste of rap music.

More crap about him bitching about his sex life and all that jazz with songs like "Trust?" and "No Sex", here something I don't understand about the song "No Sex" its about regretting about making love to someone but if you listen to "Nookie" 9 tracks ago, this song defeats the purpose of the meaning and this makes him sounded like a hypocrite, and I would like to point out the lyric...

"its my ass/your perfume/that make my temptation hard to refuse."

...kind of confused me a little, when I heard I was like "wait what!?", maybe its my toilet mind of mine, what he is saying that the smell of his ass and the girls perfume makes sex happen...hey guys, fart as much as possible! the girls love it!! Moving on, what we got here is what I would say is there anthem song or as I would like to call it for Nu-Metal bands...the "GITDAFUKUP" song "Show Me What You Got", I am going to admit I am a sucker for anthems, even it does have the most terrible writing, the whole song is just listing off cities they played (I'll admit it, I gleed when he mentioned Hartford, because anything Connecticut rarely gets mentioned), and they also listed there thanks to there friends and influenced, honestly they should of ended the album there, but the album has to end with a whimper of a song "A Lesson Learned" what the does the song mean to me? it just sounded like whining about how life is just not easy, luckily its short, but I considered it unnecessary, and we ended this album with an Outro which is the extended version of the intro.

Overall, the album started out strong, but after 4 songs, it just completely dropped the ball, there where some redeeming songs but its hard to fully recover when it keeps delivering bad songs, the album did not age well, production values is not too bad, it is a step up from there first album. One thing I would like to point out is the album cover, although its a good cover, but when you actually look through the whole packaging, it has an identity crisis, its poorly designed (try to read the lyrics). Its such a shame that the album that I once liked actually turned out to be a not so good of an album. Sorry Fred, but this is my Unquestionable Truth *grins*
