Sisqo (aka Mark Andrews) is a singer of the R&B group "Dru Hill", they where well known for the hit singles "In My Bed", "Never Make A Promise" to name a few. Along the line of there career Woody left to pursue his solo career, and thus inspired other members of the group to do there own themselves, I am sure the most infamous member to make a solo is album is Sisqo, I remember watching TRL back in the day and have this little guy running around announcing his new video on this album, titled "Thong Song", I remember that video so much, all bunch of hot chicks in there bikini's at a beach, and have Sisqo drive into the beach an start dancing around getting the party started, but the scene will always stick out to me is the black light scene, thats where dreams are made of...
Then again, the video is just plain ridiculous. I will admit it, the song is catchy, its a song that get the girls dancing, I find the lyrics are ridiculous by todays standards, its laughable, and also some outdated references (Does anyone in US say "Livin' La Vida Loca" anymore?). Don't expect to ever to hear this song at a club or a strip club any time soon, it just did not age too well and its pretty much just a novelty of a song.
So yeah, many are now thinking, hows the album? Well, if you take away the sole hit song, its just a awful album, every song sounds exactly the same, the subject matter is all the same, its just music about making love, girls, all that jazz...or something a little bit about more specific...its songs about fucking, thats all it is, its just songs about fucking. Don't get me wrong, I like romantic, love making music, but here is the difference, you can have the greatest production of all time, you can have songs about making love, but you have to make the song...good. If the music just for the sake of love making, then your album will not do too well outside the bedroom.
The biggest problem with this album is cliched, rest assure you will bring out the check list of RnB/Soul Cliches and it will clear out everything to a tee. Many songs are all the same, it will not let up the pace at all until 8 tracks in (guess what the song is). Its also a boring album, I've been driving around at least 5 towns (I live in Connecticut, there are so many small towns) trying to run some errands, but this crap just sucks the life out of me, I wanted listen to something new but I can't for the sake of reviewing, I pretty much have to suffer through this one. I remember when the last track on the album came on, it bursted out with energy, I was like "woah holy shit what happened!?" but sadly, its just a remix track and it came in too late. Overall, if you see this album in the used bin...avoid it, its awful...not worth the 3 bucks, do the world a favor, don't listen to it.
